The Cordillera Blanca range is quite accessible. There is a beautiful drive through the mountains past little villages that takes 3-4 days. I think tour companies offer this drive. We did part of it on the way back from the trek and it was just as spectacular as the trek itself.

Hello Pappa,
If the pictures appear dark, you should be able to use the monitor’s brightness and contrast buttons to correct it. If that doesn’t help, you may need a new monitor.

Who decides what’s normal? Society? It should be to each it’s own and should do what they like. That’s what I like about you two! I look at your pictures and would like to be there but I don’t think I could deal with the hardships of camping. So will enjoy the beauty thru your blogs and the beautiful pictures! Is it possible to get to the mountains any otherway for us ?

There is always a conflict between happiness of self & satisfying the society. If you chose former you are happy with the world; latter will always create inner tension.
By the way Neena, the pictures of your blog though beautiful are always downloaded on my computer rather dark. How do I brighten it? Pardon I am barely computer literate & would prefer a ready solution than wasting in many trials as Shailesh advises.

The guide kept telling us about clients that got to the pass in 2.5 (instead of 3) hours and kept hinting that we should speed up. But you know Shreesh. He just ignored him

Interesting thought. i think a lot of our activities are motivated by getting-ahead-of-neighbor attitude. And if someone happens to step out of this mold and actually have fun not achieving milestones (whether it be acquiring spouse/kids, or clocking a respectable time climbing a mountain/swimming an ocean), we try to bring him down. How dare he not participate in the race and compete and loose and make me feel better about myself!
