Movie quanta discussed. Some thoughts on Wim Wenders’ film “Wings of Desire”.

Sometimes my movie watching is quantized. To relieve the tedium of the gym I watch movies on my laptop and suddenly I am elsewhere – In the hills of Tuscany, Behind the DMZ in North Korea, Tracking down strange happenings. Anywhere except the sweaty elliptical trainer at Crunch Fitness. That is the wonder of movies.

Chest Thumping!

An abuse of dummies takes place. A shocking experience described.

A CPR certification is required by the W-EMT program and so we spent this weekend thumping on the chests of plastic and rubber CPR dummies. The program was run by the San Francisco Paramedics Association and featured five hours of CPR instruction which was quite a cardio workout.

Needles as a child – How I said “Nevermore” – Needles as an adult.

Vaccinations are a familiar part of any holiday for me. As a child in India, my family made our annual pilgrimage to Mumbai to visit the family from New Delhi. And so the ritual trip to the doctor’s office to arm ourselves against typhoid, cholera and tetanus, amidst much crying in anticipation of the needle.
