“Me encanta Oaxaca” – Spanish voices it so much more beautifully than “We loved Oaxaca”. The overused word “love” sounds cheap in English. Oaxaca was so rich – with culture, art, artisans, people, food and drink. As Fred remarked, its a “real” city. (Map this!)

Finding joy away from the coast.

It is difficult to follow a Fred Gault post but I’ll give it my best. Though Fred may complain about verb conjugations in Spanish class, we all know that he went into class on the first day, raised his hand and asked,”How do you say ‘fart’ in Spanish?”, thus setting the tone for this academic exercise.

The Magic of Mezcal

Research into Mezcal proves to be interesting and highly rewarding

When traveling it is necessary to leave behind all that I am used to and learn to accept the treasures of the region that I am in. The state of the Mexican wine industry can at best be described as deplorable and at worst… well I’d rather not go there. Combine that with bland, insipid, mass-produced beer and becoming a teetotaler starts to look like an attractive option.
